IS MY VOICE HEARD???

INDIA is known for its unity in diversity...Basically country doesnt make its people but the people make it a country..My question to you all is ..when the country works for the welfare of its people why is the public voice so unheard and calm?Even if Public voice reaches to the authority how far is it taken serious?Lemme tell you one example:Recently,i had been to a voting campaign of one of our leaders and there we had just 5 mins time to voice our views...Trust me..hardly the right voice was heard and even if heard was just sweeped away by sweet talks of the pilotician..Our questioning doesnt mean pointing fingers on govt but means, our helplessness to do something without any authority grants and so we voice our views ..Rather than finding the solution the talk is just blown away...I am a public ,I got a chance to voice my views but is this voice heard???How can then we say we are working for the welfare of people..???You are doing what you feels is right probably thats not all people ever required..!whats the solution for this..How many agree to me?

This is going to be a long long comment, but I hope you will find it useful/interesting.

I have been following Yuva activities, your blog, pictures for sometime now. I can see that there is lots of energy and enthusiasm to do something. But I feel that many of us lack the understanding of "what is it that we need to do". As you rightly pointed out in this article, "how can we say that we are working for the welfare of the people"?

I don't want to sound negative or discourage people from doing the so called 'social work'. But the only concern I am raising is to firstly understand what is the problem, what are factors and what is the solution, before implementing them.

Let me give you an example. I am associated with a set of people who, let me put it this way, think beyond the normal stream of thought and want to understand the bigger thing. In this group, there is a person X. This person was a very active student activist in his college days and was part of many andolans. One of the andolan is 'Kisan Andolan' in UP. There in one district, there is poverty, illiteracy, hunger among people. So X really got moved and looked for what is the problem of this district. There people grow sugarcane, and the price at which the Govt. buys the sugarcane is very less, so less that it is not able to compensate for the investment the farmers put it to grow sugarcane. So X along with his friends, started a big 'Kisan Andolan' where they did dharnas, blocked Government offices etc to prove a point and demand that they should increase the price. Finally, the Govt. agreed to increase the price by three times.

Now, X thought 'Well, great! We solved this district's problem. Now they have money, they are prosperous.' But in the end, the result of the andolan was that everybody in the village started growing rich due to increase in income and bad things started to happen. There is increase in drinking, womanezing, kidnaps, murders and what not. Once a peaceful district, now became the most criminal district in the state.

X got really upset and started thinking: where did things go wrong? we started with the right problem, found a solution and implemented. Then he realized that he didn't come up with a solution which is proper, which is because, he didn't understand the problem correctly.

And there is more to what he did later to solve that problem and what is he is doing now.

Finally, my point is that what we think is the problem may not be THE actual problem and it might lie some where else. So we need to first study and understand the cause for human misery/problems/sadness.
